Ruhr Festival Opera House Recklinghausen

With the conversion of the Ruhr Festival Opera House in 1965, the prerequisites were established to perform a wide variety of additional events aside from the festival opera performances. The newly built transparent entrance foyer opens all levels of the building to a festival meeting place and accentuates, together with cantilevered and light roofing element, a visual and optimal connection with the city and the park. The conversion of the Ruhr Festival Opera House was awarded the German Architecture Prize in 2001.
