The Seegarten is a new hotel complex located between the lakeside promenade of Lake Tegernsee and the centre of Bad Wiessee. Due to its prominent location, the hotel and adjoining restaurant will have a significant impact on the townscape of the municipality.
To preserve the open sightlines between the town centre and the lake, two buildings are planned – an elongated main building, on the site of the current hotel Seegarten, and a smaller annex. The new buildings are designed to blend in with their surroundings, adopting the length, proportions and structure of the existing buildings. Both buildings will be connected to the lakeside promenade via a shared base, which makes use of the hillside location and is landscaped on the town side. The hotel restaurant, which has a large outdoor dining area open to the public, is located directly on the lakeside promenade.
Designed as a hybrid wood-concrete building, the partition walls of the 49 guest rooms extend to the surrounding balconies, serving as both a privacy screen and a facade structure. Elements such as horizontal wooden railings, timber-clad gable panels, and the vertical division of the building into a stone base and dark, pre-greyed wood on the upper floors draw inspiration from regional building traditions.
