Education is evolving – and so are the spaces in which it takes place. This design replaces the existing ensemble with a structured, user-oriented building layout that supports dynamic learning formats and transforms the site into an open space for social interaction.

The new development aligns with the large-scale structures to the west and responds sensitively to the valuable existing trees. A “green cushion” frames a central clearing, into which the staggered building volumes are gently integrated. This creates a sequence of engaging spatial experiences and a variety of outdoor areas – from a neighborhood park in the west to activity zones with a sports field and running track in the north and east.

Two staggered classroom buildings rest on a landscaped plinth that merges with the roof of the recessed sports hall. The southern classroom building addresses Niederurseler Landstraße and forms the public front. Here, a public area emerges with a cafeteria and an integrated neighborhood café, creating a link between the school and the surrounding community.

Inside, a “school street” connects public and semi-public functions, which are also accessible outside school hours. The clusters follow the concept of a “small school within the school,” featuring learning platforms, team rooms, and adjoining balcony zones that enable differentiated learning.
