The most striking feature of the new arena built for ice hockey team EHC Red Bull (RBM) München and the basketball team of FC Bayern München (FCBB) is undoubtedly the "Vertical Park". Conceived as a dynamic system of publicly accessible ramps, platforms and sculpturally-shaped lounge and event zones, it "flows around" the actual building structure and interweaves it with the topography of the park. From here, visitors can access the hall perimeter on Level +1 with the kiosks, toilet facilities, restaurant and entrances to the tiers. Level 0 is reserved for fans, while the VIP lounge is located on the upper tier in Level +3. Robust, rough ground coverings in the arena perimeters – a mastic asphalt with gravel interspersion similar to the existing Olympic mastic – reinforces the smooth transition between indoors and outdoors and allows the artificial topography to merge with the park's path system.
