The Projekthaus Zukunft, together with the Cluster of Excellence CeTI, forms a new focal point on the TU Dresden campus – a place of encounter, communication, and interdisciplinary exchange. As an equal counterpart to the Lecture Hall Center, the new building is a key component of the overarching master plan, positioned at the intersection of the campus axes along the new “Academic Mile.”
The design proposes an urban ensemble composed of a plinth and two building volumes. The lower, elongated structure, which occupies the corner of the two main axes, establishes a clear spatial edge. The recessed, taller volume responds to the symmetry of the Lecture Hall Center and its forecourt. Its height underscores the urban significance of the Projekthaus. By offsetting the volumes, the listed administration building is integrated as an essential part of the new ensemble.
The two building volumes are connected and accessed via a projecting “Townhall,” conceived as an open and communicative zone that becomes the central space for exchange, networking, and knowledge transfer. Through its staggered arrangement, this area opens both eastward and westward, making TU Dresden’s cutting-edge research visible to a wider public.
