Central Stations as Catalysts of Transformation

From transport hub to urban anchor point: In Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin, planners are currently working at various scales to make the central stations fit for the future. The projects share the ambition to transform the stations into attractive gateways that enhance the quality of stay for travelers as vibrant urban districts, while dissolving their spatial separation from the city.
 

Martin Klemp, partner in our office, sees the project as a historic opportunity for Munich: “We have the chance to build an entirely new station right in the city center, one that also incorporates the Starnberg Wing Station. At the same time, we can create a new urban foyer, with a traffic-calmed station square and a reception building truly worthy of the name.”
