Construction Update from Hamburg’s HafenCity
The Prevention Center of the employers’ liability insurance associations BGW and VBG is taking shape at the eastern gateway to Hamburg’s HafenCity. Positioned directly beside the Freihafenelb Bridge, the striking new building will soon serve as a distinctive landmark marking the entrance to HafenCity.
The 18-story tower and adjoining podium are conceived as a single architectural entity. A finely woven mineral façade unifies them into a monolithic urban sculpture, articulated in warm brick tones. The Prevention Center is set to become a place of learning dedicated to contemporary and inclusive approaches to prevention, where the principles of healthy work environments can be experienced and understood.
The structural shell has been completed, and the building envelope is now nearly in place. Inside, construction is advancing steadily: interior fit-out is well underway, and most of the technical building services have already been installed.
