Foundation stone laid in Esslingen

[…] The architect, Christof Teige, of Stuttgart practice Auer Weber, who also were in charge of the all-round refurbishment of the neighboring historical tavern “Haus Falken”, pointed out that with the new headquarters “the roots, tradition, and continuing presence of Kreissparkasse in Esslingen can now also be experienced through a building”. “A disciplined, vertically structured façade with a classical composition of base, middle part and receding upper stories will become a characteristic of the new HQ”, Teige declared. Additionally, he said, the façade was structrured by slightly folding its total length into individually discernible sections. In this way the building will reflect the scale of “Haus Falken”. The future clients’ hall is seen by the architect as a “display window towards the city”. In a figurative sense, this will turn the HQ into a marketplace and into a spot of communication and information. […]
