Leisure and Wellness Swimming Hall in Douai opened

In a ceremonial act, the swimming hall in the North of France was inaugurated by representatives of the Region and the Département as well as from politics and sport. From today, the hall is also open to the public.

 In Douai, to the south of Lille, the ecological quarter “Le Raquet” is developing into a new city district, whose heart will be a landscaped park. At its northeastern end lies the new swimming hall, at the interface between the artificial landscape of the park and the urban structure of the city. The duality of the urban surroundings in the North and East and the park in the South and West required an architectural solution that is able to reconcile those contrasts. The exterior space flows, in several plateaus, from the outside into the swimming hall. This motive of soft terracing can be found everywhere in the swimming hall complex.
