Let the games begin!

Preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are well underway. The capital is being decked out for the Olympics, athletes are arriving and stands are being erected at the various venues - including at the Île-de-France Olympic Aquatics Centre, which we designed and built.

About 30 km from Paris, the Olympic Aquatics Centre is one of the venues for the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in France. It is home to the largest white water centre in Europe and will be the venue for the rowing, kayaking, canoeing and slalom competitions. Since its completion and official opening, it has been open to international elite athletes as well as amateurs and the general public.

Situated on the banks of the Marne, the 200-hectare Vaires-Torcy water sports park is set in a historic landscape. From north to south, a lively plateau rises up from the flat area on the eastern edge of the lake, housing competitive sports, accommodation and public water sports facilities.

The various facilities appear very homogeneous due to the reduced choice of materials - exposed concrete and wood. The facades of the buildings arranged beneath the plateau use polycarbonate panels, a material used in boat building.
