From the jury report
From a conclusive site planning analysis, the architects develop an convincing urban planning solution. Interesting is the intention to give the small building an urban expression "through a self-evident solidity" (quotation from the architects' explanatory report). To achieve this, the building volume above the base storey is correctly pushed into Königsstraße as a right-angled structure. This design decision, together with the unpretentious order of the fenestration, cleverly reflects the local significance of the corner at Königstrasse and Hirschstrasse. Furthermore, both elevations of the building are characterised by an appropriate proportion of closed façade surfaces. These wall surfaces are harmoniously clad with large-format shell limestone slabs. In this way, the design presents itself as a stone house and makes reference to the neighbouring Tagblatt Tower in the proposed materiality.
