Olympic water sports stadium near Paris opened

The "Stade nautique Olympique d'Île-de-France", located about 30 km from Paris, is the first completed sports facility for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games; it will be the venue for rowing, canoe racing and canoe slalom. Organised by the Île-de-France region and supported by the French government, the stadium is already open to international athletes, amateurs and the general public. Overlooking the 2024 Paris Summer Games, the Vaires-Torcy whitewater stadium has been renamed "Stade nautique Olympique d'Île-de-France", the Île-de-France region's Olympic water sports stadium, and is the largest whitewater centre in Europe.

Many guests from the world of politics and sport - including the Minister of Sport, Roxana Maracineanu, the President of the region, Valérie Pecresse, the President of the Organising Committee of the Olympic Games in Paris and three-time Olympic champion in canoeing, Tony Estanguet - celebrated the opening of the new facility last week, as did the numerous visitors who enjoyed the expanded recreation area and the wide range of water sports available to everyone.
