Topping-out ceremony for second stage of Mechanical Engineering Campus

A further phase in the construction of the Mechanical Engineering Campus and the research building for Dynamics of Energy Conversion has been accomplished. On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, Leibniz Universität Hannover held the topping-out ceremony for the second construction stage in Garbsen. “Uniting the institutes for mechanical engineering on one site is a milestone in the development of Leibniz Universität Hannover,” the university’s president, Prof. Volker Epping, pointed out before numerous guests, among them Lower Saxony undersecretary, Andrea Hoops, and Ulf-Birger Franz, Head of Economics for the Hanover Region. “High performance, powerful research, and diversity of mechanical engineering subjects will forgather in one place in the future. We are planning to move into the new buildings in time for the start of winter term 2019/2020 in October 2019. Building the Mechanical Engineering Campus in Garbsen completes an urban structural concept for a ‘science axis‘ which was developed by Technical University Hannover as early as the 1970’s.
