Topping-out ceremony in Stuttgart-Degerloch, April 28
The new House of the Church (Haus der Kirche) is situated in the center of Degerloch, a district of Stuttgart. It comes very close to the adjacent Michaelskirche but at the same time keeps a desirable distance to the church’s historical substance. In the extension, the characteristic roof landscape of the neighboring houses is insightfully taken up and given a new interpretation. This results in an appropriate and confident attitude of the new parish hall. The roof’s shape, deliberately standing out, accentuates the tower of Michaelskirche from different angles and at the same time provides the interior with generosity of space.
