Federal Reserve Bank Halberstadt

The decision by the German State Bank to build a branch in Halberstadt allows the closure of a large plot between Kernstadt with Domplatz and Liebfrauenkirchen and the former rampart. The concept reacts to the situation with an elongated volume with a pitched roof which provides shops, administration and housing. Along the Westendorf street, a passage parallel to the building for the money transporters and a technical building on the rampart for the money processing. The structuring of the building along the Westendorf street reacts to the small-scale neighbourhood of the timber-framed houses, the threshold to the existing building is via two homes. Sand stone walls bind the building into its surroundings.
