The extension of Fraunhofer IWM (Institute for Mechanics of Materials) aims at harmonizing the heterogeneous current structure and at establishing an identity which corresponds to the significance of the research carried out by the institute. The concept for the interior connections makes sure that all levels are joined clearly and, if possible, on the same plane; center of the network is the generous and transparent entrance lobby which merges into the cafeteria, the central rendezvous for all members of staff. Materials and colors for the buildings are to be chosen with regard to improving the complex's homogeneity.
