Gemeindehaus Elly Heuss-Knapp S-Degerloch

The new Elly Heuss-Knapp Parish Center is situated in the center of Degerloch, a district of Stuttgart. It nestles to the adjacent Michaelskirche, but at the same time keeps an essential distance to the church’s historical fabric. The characteristic roofscape of the neighboring houses has sensitively been taken up and given a new interpretation. This results in an appropriate yet sovereign attitude of the new parish hall. Deliberately standing out, the new roof shape accentuates the tower of Michaelskirche from various angles and provides an interior with plenty of space.
