Glemstal School Schwieberdingen-Hemmingen
Together with the Herrmann-Butzer School, the Glemstal School forms a scenically situated campus next to the River Glems. The conversion and extension, based on the pedagogical concept, focuses on recognisable learning houses with multifunctional centres around which the individual year groups are grouped with classrooms, input rooms, differentiation rooms and tutorial rooms. Years 5-8 will be located in the existing building, and Years 9 and 10 in the new building.
The existing and new buildings will be connected by a bridge over Herrenwiesenweg. Technical classes will be built in the new building, while art, craft and music rooms will remain in the old building. To create a clear internal and external orientation, extensions dating from the 1990s will be demolished, the main entrance will be relocated and the school opened up towards the River Glems. The existing building will be reduced to its shell, and sustainable energy-efficient equipment installed. A uniform timber facade will link the new and existing buildings, and a spacious break area will offer new open space qualities.
The students moved into the new building in late summer 2023, and the conversion work is currently taking place in the existing building.
