Planned in accordance with the “Lernhaus” educational concept, this school building is articulated into three volumes – primary school, sports hall and ancillary structure – which are laid out along the streets adjoining the site. Screened off acoustically from the surroundings to a large extent, a central feature of the development is the sheltered playground with a school garden and planted play areas. Environmentally, special attention was paid to the heights of the structures in relation to the small-scale, two-storey housing on neighbouring sites. The scheme is graduated in height from west to east, with a four-storey section along the Pasinger Heuweg, followed by a three-storey volume along the Theodor-Fischer-Strasse and ending with the single-storey sports hall.
