Secondary school Franz-Mader-Straße, Munich
The site for the new school building borders on the northern edge of the busy Allacher Straße. To reduce noise and safety risks, the elongated four-storey block of the new school building, the children's house and the partially buried sports hall and grandstand are arranged protectively around the south-facing schoolyard. This is also where the entrances to the school building are located. The area is accessed via a newly created pedestrian and bicycle path in the south.
With its many unsealed and landscaped areas as well as the large tree plantings in the schoolyard, the new school campus blends into its green surroundings. The school garden, which is integrated into the building on two terraces, and a facade greening that wraps around the building over a frame structure in front of it, continue the green idea. Climate-friendly and natural building materials and earthy, mineral shades reflect ecological awareness. The wooden formwork of the upper floors lends the building a lightness and naturalness. In contrast, the exposed concrete base is kept in earthy mineral tones.
