Sports and Swimming Hall PH Ludwigsburg

A new sports and swimming hall is being built on the campus of the Ludwigsburg University of Education for students of sport and sports education. The compact arrangement of the new building takes up the orthogonal structure of the campus and replaces an existing building. While the two functions are combined in one cubic structure, the sports hall and swimming pool are given differentiated timber supporting structures that are adapted to the respective spans. The use of wood as a material is also continued in the facade envelope in the form of a delicate slatted facade, while the building opens up on the north and east sides at the base level with a transparent steel and glass facade. Inside, in addition to a three-court sports hall, the new two-storey building will include a swimming pool with a lifting floor, fitness and gymnastics rooms, seminar and office areas and a grandstand for visitors.
