Since 2004, the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press, Ltd., has presented the prestigious ‘International Architecture Award’. This time, out of a total of 850 projects submitted, 190 buildings were awarded and honored - only 7 of them from Germany. Dipl.-Ing. Architect Associate Daniela Sacher's main focus is on the modernisation and expansion of existing buildings in the fields of education, culture and administration. She has been with Auer Weber in Munich since 2006 and an associate in the office since 2023. Prior to joining Auer Weber, she worked for Sartory & Focks, Ott Architekten and SIAT. She studied architecture at the TU Berlin until 1999.

As a journal partner, we have contributed to the design of the current issue of DBZ Deutsche Bauzeitschrift. On behalf of Auer Weber, Julia Schmid, Markus Hennig (both associates) and Felix Wiemken (partner) met with DBZ editor-in-chief Michael Schuster and editor Heide Teschner in a joint editorial meeting to discuss the topic of leisure, and to view, sort and select outstanding projects. The aim was to present a diverse and inspiring range of sports and leisure facilities, and the result can be seen in the current issue of DBZ. In the accompanying DBZ podcast "Designing leisure", Heide Teschner and Michael Schuster talk to Julia Schmid and Felix Wiemken about the importance of leisure, its social significance and the resulting demands on architecture. From Alsace through Baden-Württemberg to Canton Basel: This year's Architekturtage (Architecture Days), organised by the Europäische Architekturhaus – Oberrhein (EA), will from 1 to 31 October 2024 feature numerous events on the theme of "Architecture Under Construction". As part of the programme, the Franco-German association invites visitors to take part in guided tours, lectures and interactive workshops, with the aim of raising awareness of contemporary architecture and promoting exchange between experts and the public. Once again this year, the Auer Weber team swapped their office chairs for football boots as the balls were set rolling at the two football tournaments for architects, the Field Soccer Tournament in Stuttgart and the Coppa Oliva in Munich. Even in the midst of European Championship fever, there was dribbling, kicking, sweating and – of course – scoring. Our two teams gave it their all, proving that we are not only creative at our desks, but also on the pitch. Although we didn't win either tournament this year, team spirit and fun were very much in evidence. And after the game is before the game – next time we'll win! A big thank you to everyone – on and off the pitch – who spent the match days in our colours!

Drawings by the architect Carlo Weber Preview 14.09.2024, 19:00 Exhibition 15.09.-27.10.2024 Galerie Sonnenberg, Stuttgart Opening hours: Sat / Sun 14:00 - 18:00 www.galerie-sonnenberg.de On the occasion of the 90th birthday of the architect Carlo Weber, Galerie Sonnenberg is showing a selection of his drawings and sketches in its annual exhibition. Since his school days and throughout his life, Carlo Weber thought, explained and captured "with pen and paper" – first while exploring his surroundings and travelling as a student, and later on as an architect in many competitions and projects. The exhibition features relatively unknown early works from the early 1950s and 1960s, as well as numerous drawings for the XX Summer Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. They demonstrate the sensitivity in handling the location, his trained eye for the topographical features of the landscape, and attest to the wide range of his field of activity. The exhibition also includes a small selection of photographs and sketches for projects that he designed with Auer + Weber, founded in 1980. Carlo Weber (1934-2014): While studying architecture in Stuttgart and Paris from 1953 to 1961, he worked in the office of Behnisch + Lambart, and in 1966 co-founded the architectural firm Behnisch & Partner. In 1980, together with Fritz Auer, he founded Auer + Weber with offices in Stuttgart and Munich. From 1992 he taught as Professor of Building Theory and Design at the TU Dresden and in 1996 was elected to the newly founded Saxon Academy of the Arts in Dresden. His later years were also filled with jury work. He died in 2014 in Stuttgart. The exhibition was curated by Catherine Rennert and Elisabeth Spieker. M.Sc. Architect Associate Since joining Auer Weber in Stuttgart in 2017, Robert Vöhringer has worked on competitions and oversees projects primarily in the early production phases. He has been an associate since 2023. While studying architecture at the University of Stuttgart, graduating in 2017, he spent semesters abroad at the Vienna University of Technology and the Politecnico di Bari in Italy.

OFROOM visits Auer Weber in Munich Material for the Future – Presentations in the Pecha Kucha Format On Thursday 13 June 2024 at 7 pm, together with OFROOM, we invite you to short presentations in the Pecha Kucha format focusing on selected materials for sustainable construction. Innovative materials and products from the OFROOM Material Service Tool will be presented in the Pecha Kucha format with entertaining presentations of 20 ppt slides x 20 seconds each. Material samples will be available. OFROOM is an innovation agency for architecture based in Vienna. Since autumn 2021, the OFROOM team has been working on a material service for architecture that is strictly oriented towards sustainability. Sustainability data is collected, analysed and made readable and comparable. Auer Weber is one of the first movers of the tool. Participation is free of charge . With the multi-storey Aérolians business park, another building block has been completed for the new leisure and business park near Charles de Gaulle Airport. The three buildings house commercial premises, warehouses and offices on two floors. A special feature is the internal courtyard, which shields the delivery traffic and gives the building a prestigious façade facing the street. The building is characterised by its high functionality and flexibility as well as its multi-storey organisation. This creates an extraordinary compactness that is particularly suited to the challenges of an urban environment. At the same time, it fulfils the desired sustainability requirements and has been certified with the BREEAM (Very Good level), the BiodiverCity label and the E+C label. For this, the building was honoured as one of three finalists in the ‘Immeuble Light Industrial’ category of the international architecture prize Grands Prix SIMI 2024.
